Houston plastic surgeon performs ground-breaking Trans-Umbilical Breast Augmentation
Dr. Fabian Worthing, one of Texas' most noted plastic surgeons has become one of few plastic surgeons in the country to perform a new breast enhancement procedure called the Trans-Umbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA). TUBA surgery is endoscopic which means it is far less invasive than traditional breast augmentations and it leaves no obvious scar.
By far the most popular of all cosmetic procedures are breast augmentations. Now the TUBA promises even more interest from women who want to increase their breast size while not incurring a scar under or around their nipple.
The TUBA begins with an endotube being inserted in a tiny incision in the belly button and advanced to a point beneath each breast (above or below the muscle) where a pocket will be created. The endoscope then inspects the tunnels created between the belly button and the point below the breasts to insure that the pockets for the implants will be dissected. A tissue expander is then passed through the tunnel, put into position under the breast and inflated 1.5 times the volume of the implant. After the tissue expander is removed, the implant (which has been rolled up for passage through the tunnel) is pushed to the breast pocket via the endotube. Once the implant is in the ideal location within the pocket, it is filled to the desired volume with a saline solution using a syringe to assure accuracy.
"I have done this new procedure with great success; it is a terrific option for women who have been interested in cosmetic breast surgery but have been reticent due to potential scarring", says Dr. Worthing.
